How to get immediate medical information?
Call 911 for an emergency. For immediate care call the Info Sante line in your area. There are also emergency clinics throughout the area. Go to the hospital nearest you.
How can I get involved with the club?
Refer to our newsletter on line or the yearly membership Calendar book and call the contacts for the events or groups that interest you.
What does the AWC do?
We are a social club of american women members who get together to have fun.
How old are the members?
We have members that range in age from 16-90 years of age, women who are Professionals, students, mothers, single, married, divorced, widowers, and newlyweds.
I am an American and lived in Canada for many past years. Can I still join?
Yes any american women citizen, foreign spouse of an american citizen, or who has been a previous member of another AWC abroad may join at any time.
I live off the Island of Montreal are any events elsewhere?
Yes we have an array of events at various location on and off the Island of Montreal, which include but are not limited to the West Island, South Shore, Eastern Township, Hudson area, and Laval area. It depends on the volunteers, and the locations from year to year.
What are the opportunities for leadership positions?
Since this is a volunteer club, we encourage and need members to lead/Chair or Co-Chair committees, and groups and events as well as the Executive Board. Most membership have these privileges available to our members.
Are there any events that include spouses?
Yes we do, mostly on weekends or at night and it varies from year to year depending on the membership interest and the volunteers availability.
May I bring a guest?
Guests are always welcomed unless otherwise notes, we encourage our members to bring their guest, the more fun we have.
Are you a networking club?
We are not a networking club nor do we accept solicitation to or within our clubs membership.
We are a social fun club.
Do I have to attend all of the meetings?
No, are meetings, events and interest groups and committees are their for you to choose whenever you can join in and partake in the fun.
Do you have evening meetings?
All are meetings are held during the daytime to accommodate the large interest in our membership's needs. We do have evening events, and group interests that meet at night.
Are evening events only for couples?
No, the evening events are not just for couples, they are for our all our members with or without their guests. We have many members attend evening events without a guest.
What are the most important events of the year?
- September Luncheon: First luncheon of the year; sign up for events, interest groups, catch up with what's new with old friends and new.
- October Bursary: Celebrate the Bursary Award given to a selected McGill student of North American Studies.
- November Thanksgiving Luncheon: Celebrate our traditional american holiday with a turkey feast. Partake in giving thanks by helping those less fortunate with a Social Services donations.
- December Toy Tea: Donate a toy for the holidays to a special child in need.
- The March and April meetings are our club's annual meetings for which we need a quorum to conduct the business of the club and in April we introduce the new elected board.
- May is when we hold our largest event of the year. This event is organized by the Social Services Committee and the proceeds are donated to a worthy local charity.
